Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 titles have been achieved on hardcourt

A resurgent Medvedev secured his initial trophy for 882 days with success over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has had a torrid period, winning just one match at the big events and undergoing a difficult moment at the American major.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in especial - led to him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately separating with long-term trainer his previous coach.

Currently working with his coach and Goetzke, he has steadily improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought competitive win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's first title since the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt after March of that year.

Success also means Medvedev has won twenty-one victories at twenty-one different tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a competition with my children together, so to secure a title is really nice," stated tennis professional the champion.

"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I got when my child my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his past six championship matches, including in the German tournament in the past months.

The player's defensive strategy and regular reactions on court had caused some to doubt if his ability to play at the top level was concluded.

But the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, making an effort to approach the net and compete assertively, reinforced by an improved serve.

The champion recovered from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky Moutet, winning four of the last five points to go ahead.

Both players swapped service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his initial tour victory, seized the initiative to force a decider.

Moutet saved four initial opportunities in a close third set before the Russian won the break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Appropriately, Medvedev earned the win with a rally at the net, with his opponent failing to control a volley after a lengthy match.
