A man who contaminated candy with sedative and provided them to minors at a summer camp in Leicestershire has pleaded guilty to sexual crimes against two boys both between nine and ten.

The defendant was arrested after eight children and an older person experienced illness at the facility in the summer month.

The senior citizen, from that region, pleaded guilty to a total of 17 charges when he was present at the judicial center on the end of the week.

Yet, he denied one of the sexual offences he was facing, which was involving a nine-year-old child.

Ruben was remanded in custody prior to a additional proceeding on 28 November.

'Candy game'

The legal representative, prosecuting, described the defendant's actions to the legal proceedings.

She stated his those affected were children from difficult backgrounds who were attending a summer program which he operated.

The man engaged in a "sweet game" with the youngsters, Mrs Prior stated, in which he would access the sleeping quarters when they were settling down and ask them to ingest treats "rapidly".

She told the court Ruben had engaged in this activity with the children "repeatedly", and minors had previously become sick the subsequent day.

She stated Ruben had been able to explain this repeatedly as the youngsters being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepchild had suspicions in recently.

Mrs Prior KC added: "Recently" his stepson had worries about what was going on, with valid cause.

"They decided to investigate in the defendant's belongings."

Mrs Prior KC said objects including lubricant, petroleum jelly and medical needles were discovered, and his family member contacted the authorities about his suspicions.

She said the defendant proceeded to engage in the "candy game" with six boys that time - July 26th - and they were everyone unwell the next day.

"The police had not responded by that time," she added.

The regulatory agency, the investigative body, earlier informed that it was reviewing Leicestershire Police's handling of the situation.

The prosecutor explained the children were unable to walk properly due to their condition, so the family member called the law enforcement a second time.

She explained the man then engaged in the "treat game" in a room of five children.
